Fireplace
Should I put a mantel or finish the tile to the top?

Dytecture A mantel would be relatively easy to finish this fireplace. If you opt for stone ideally the entire wall should be at the same angle as the fireplace so there might be more construction involved.

norma034 Thank you, I was thinking just finishing the exciting tiles up to the frame of the fireplace or putting a mantel? Also need help decorating the fireplace.

A Kitchen That Works LLC If I am interpreting the photo correctly, a mantle would have to wrap the doorway on the left but not on the right - yes, no?

Betty Williams Bring your stone all the way up to the ledge of the fireplace. Have a mantel made of stained wood. Smooth and curved such as a half pie shape. That way your mantel will soften the stone but not compete with it. Also by having the mantel curve you will eliminate the harsh stop at the end of each side of the wall.
