What can I do with this entrance? Paint/wallpaper/lights?

Carolina Photo To Go LLC If this is a historical home (???), you probably want to maintain the integrity of the wood. I would use a runner or area rug (larger than the door mat) to give visual interest. You might want to tell location of home so people will know how to suggest - not exact; but country or state.

mmilos Love the landscaping.

Are you opposed to painting or removing the wainscoting? I think it would help lighten up the entry. Just from your picture, I think I'd remove the wainscoting. Keep the ceiling cross beams wood, but paint the door, windows and trim a clean white. Put in a textured neutral wallpaper. Add a larger patterned area rug. A pendant light hung centered to your front door and some new sconces would provide a freshening.

Ironwood Builders I love the wood...but I'm a wood guy! I think that oriental rugs or local weavings on the floor. Using the same color paint on the ceiling as the walls will unify the look. I agree on the installation of new lighting. Using local basketry or wall art will tie the home to it's location.

Ironwood Builders a small console table below the pass through(?) will give a place to put mail and keys on entering.
