Before and After --- Built-in bookcase

I'm the general contractor for my own whole-house renovation. In attempting to create an open-concept living/dining area, I took what was going to be a plain half-wall and turned it into a built-in bookshelf with a rustic, wood countertop.

Built ins can be great - this one is nice - utilizing the space in an organized way can enhance the visual - it can be both functional and have decor appeal -
