Help with utilizing awkward space between kitchen and laundry area
Not sure what the people before us used this area for, maybe a breakfast nook?
I tried putting a small round table, but it blocks the way to the washer/dryer. A small table on either side looks awkward to me, especially up against the fridge.
What are some other options for this space?

Dytecture I believe this area was meant for a eat in table, even if it's just enough for 2 with the option to be expanded when needed.

A Kitchen That Works LLC Would you consider a Table like this for under the window http://www.potterybarn.com/products/miller-rectangular-kitchen-island-wood-dining-table-stools/?pkey=ctables? Then you could put shelving units on the wall next to the fridge for added storage.

Jessi Hardy Bar stools and a small table was what I was thinking. But what about the opposite wall area?

groveraxle I like dytecture's drop leaf table idea. It would be versatile; you could pull it out and use it for extra counter space when you have to make a bazillion cookies for the bake sale.

sjkingston You could also do a built in blanquette on the left (keeping it small and narrow in scale with e room available and have a table that could be pushed. Up against it when you need to get to the laundry (similar in shape to the you have now but maybe with a narrow drop leaf that can be raised for more table space. On the opposite side what about a very narrow bench that could then be pulled forwarded for more seating if needed?
