Accent color for black & white room
Need ideas for accent color to use in master bedroom and bath. I currently have black curtains and black comforter ( king bed). The walls are white. No headboard on the bed yet, night stands are black. The black curtains must stay because they are the only thing we have found to darken the room so my hubby can sleep during the day (he works nights). I would like to keep the comforter. I would like to paint or wallpaper the wall behind the bed silver. The cabinets in the bath are chocolate brown. Everything else white.

We will put up large black & white photos we have taken. I would like to use a color for throw pillows, candles, lamps, towels, etc but Im not sure how to pull it all together. I was also thinking about painting a portion of bathroom with the accent color.

Thanks!

dalma darling You have a lot of great options. I don't know your style, but you could have fun and go a little glam with some mirrored pieces like in this room. You could do your silver wallpaper behind your bed and it would look great. This designer used gold which looks great as well.

aprilmfs Thank you, Dalma Darling, for sharing your ideas! It helps give a starting point because I do have so many options. I'll try to post some pics soon. My current focus is finishing the kitchen then I would like to tackle the master next!

ASVInteriors It doesn't look as if you really want or need an accent colour - the framed black and white photos will be the drama along with your silver. I have used silver paint in a room and it works beautifully to add reflective light into the room) If you can do a faux silver leaf that would be even more interesting - but I think that would be easier as a wallpaper

dalma darling Great, glad I could help. Ill look forward to seeing what you decide!

What's happening in your kitchen? I just finished a renovation in mine so I understand what it takes. One project at a time :)

aprilmfs Dalma darling, we move in our new home in December. The kitchen was outdated a little and not our taste. We painted cabinets choc brown. We used the rustoleum cabinet transformation kit- worked better than we thought and are having granite countertops installed this week. I'll post some pics- need advise with that project too!

aprilmfs ASVInteriors- your right! I dont think I do want accent color. I think the main issue may be trying to decide which directions to go in general-- use color (light blues?)'that go with black or keep it simple black- white-silver

ASVInteriors My advice would be to keep it simple in black white and silver but play up the textures: adding mongolian fur cushions, or woolen silver blankets or black velvet thows.... etc etc

shortped I agree with ASVInteriors, although you could always add a little aubergine if u wanted
