Light floors... Dark floors?
I hate the medium oak all over my house. It's too much. All trim. Cabinets. Tray ceiling moldings. Balcony. Pergo medium oak in living room. Dining room and office. I want to go dark...We are starting with our master bedroom upstairs and doing hallway upstairs with dark hardwood. What do we do with stairs? They will be bordering the medium oak floor so...no to dark? Or we can still do dark stairs? Or should I carpet stairs only? When you walk in front door you see oak floors in dining room on left. Oak in office on right. And oak in front of you in living room. But all the rooms are separated with the tile entry. Stairs come upstairs from living room. We wanted to do this in small steps. Not do all floors at once to cost us 7,000 or more. What do you suggest?

Dark wood in living room too?

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design Perhaps you should paint the riser portion of the stairs, as shown in photo below, just so the dark floor isn't adjacent to the oak. Visible, yes, adjacent, no.
