Moving to house with long, narrow bathroom, and way too dark paint
Will be changing everything in this bathroom!!! Can't change the dimensions, but need to make it look as spacious as possible.

14thstreet hahaha oh dear that orange is terrible. How about a soft gray?

chickinvic I think it could work with a lighter shade of orange, and I would be tempted to paint the vanity cabinetry espresso or something like that.

stephstirniman Planning on taking the vanity out, doesn't need to be so long. Sink placement seems crazy, why so close to door? Looks dangerous :@)

Would love to move potty further down towards cabinetry, and maybe make some sort of privacy screen. Then take out bath and put in sleek shower with small bench seat, and textured glass panel:)

Paint color needs to be LIGHT, a soft gray might look good:) Would love to change out satillo tile to either wood looking ceramic, or travertine. But buget may not go there, as there is a lot of satillo in the house:(

Fiorano Tile Showrooms Really not a design dilemma as much as a budget dilemma. If you can't spend any money, then paint the walls lighter. If you can do something bigger, then get a smaller vanity and put sink centered under the mirror, of course if you can, change out the tile to something less busy.

Fiorano Tile Showrooms I just noticed the second image. The floor looks more pleaing when seeing more of it. If you lighten the walls, for sure paint the ceiling white or just off white, THAT in itself is closing in the room. :)

groveraxle Today's ideabook is about creating privacy for the loo. Take a look:

eagledzines Here are a few ideas: Since it's long and narrow, definitely go with a shower curtain, not a glass enclosure which would only highlight it's length. The ceiling is painted the same orange, making it look rather cave-like so paint the ceiling white. To make it look wider, put a full width mirror in that goes right to the wall, since the sink is so far over toward the door. Put a light over the mirror and remove the lights that are there since they would be in the way of the mirror. You could go with gray or lighter orange for the wall as was mentioned.
Here is an inspiration picture. This would look nice with the espresso finish that chickinvic mentioned.

jatreat That vanity is a real waste. Why have such a long vanity, either put in another sink, (if needed for a master bathroom) or get rid of the long vanity.

eagledzines I am assuming the vanity is at the end because it is wider and so that gives more 'moving around' room between the toilet and the sink. You can trim the vanity as long as the sink still fits. And if it doesn't fit you can get a vanity that is designed for the sink to extend beyond the vanity counter.

Fiorano Tile Showrooms groveraxle, what does your post have to do with this thread? BTW: That "privacy" wall has quite a bit of holes in it, did ya' notice?

janishill Softer paint color, walk in shower with beautiful glass doors.

stephstirniman Janishill - Hey, someone who is on the same page as me!! Your attached pictures were just the sort of thing I had in mind:@) I particularly like the first picture, very close to the picture in my head!

Not a big fan of shower curtains, plus would like some cool tile in the shower. There is a skylight over the shower (partially covered over at the moment) so there could be a lot more light in the room.

Thanks for your input.

4resas For the most spacious feel switch to a pedestal sink. The one below has some space to set a blow dryer, or toothbrushes. You have enough room that you could flank it with shallower, taller cabinets. A larger mirror and lighter paint will brighten it up a lot.
