Suggestions for a painted floor.
Brand new second-floor addition and I'm looking to funk up the hallway a bit. I'd like to do a painted floor and was wondering if anyone here has 1. painted a floor, and 2. what type of topcoat you used.

designideas4me wow I cant wait to find out how to paint a floor. Are you painting over white wood planks like it shows in the pictures? I have cement and have wanted to paint them for a year now. But when I looked into the concrete paint products i read that they chip easily so i didnt want to make more of a mess.

Carol @ Elephant Buffet Designideas4me: I'm just painting over the subfloor that my trades laid down --- just floor-grade plywood.

olldbobbi If I understand you right, you will be using the subfloor as the top floor? And that's why you want to paint it?

Interiors International, Inc. There are great ideas and info on how to do this on this site. Your local home improvement center can also help.

lauriaj My brother is a very talented artist, he does movie/commercial sets so a lot of faux work! He painted my parents concrete slab in our living room/dining room to look like marble and it was awesome!!! If done right, it could be very cool! Wonder if I have any pictures of that? My parents sold the house 12 years ago :(

Keitha Carol, the picture I sent was not my friends house but her's is very a black and dark stained checkerboard pattern with their initials in the center. A little more formal than what you had in mind but her finish has held up very well for years now.

designideas4me Interiors International, Inc.... Thx yes I realize that about stain but it will showthe many large imperfections in my concrete.....................unlessperhaps I used black.....no its still not a good idea because I would have to prep the floor with lots of dust. I guess I was looking for a paint option whereby I could just cover the concrete with paint til I put in wood.
