Need help redecorating small writer's/office nook!
I want to surprise my boyfriend by redecorating this area in our bedroom into a nice little writer's space. I'd like to paint the walls so it matches the rest of the bedroom (colors in the room are navy, white, yellow, and tan). I don't want to go too modern because I really love the lamp and old desk. I definitely want a new chair, but I'm having a difficult time finding a nice one for a good price. It doesn't need to be an office chair with wheels or anything, just a simple one with arms. Do you guys have any simple ideas to spruce this space up a bit? I'd like to spend $150 tops. Any tips would be appreciated!

moenna Since your boyfriend is a writer, then no doubt, he will have many books. Paint to match something in the rest of the room. Add shelves for books, above the desk. Look on Craigslist, to find a chair at a reasonable cost,. Make sure the seat of the chair, is high enough. This is important. Many office chairs are too low. I tried many and finally discovered that a dining room chair with arms, was THE perfect one. If he writes using a computer, remember he should have the computer set, so that sitting in the chair, he looks slightly down on the screen.
As a writer and if he jots down ideas on paper, then make sure to have a nice waste paper basket, beside the desk. Difficult to place much on the opposite wall, which would not be in the way. So, place a nice large picture there.
Although I love drapes, I wouldn't put them in this small window. Maybe hang a shade which could be lowered during sunlight or night hours.

Light and Time Art Feel free to take a look t my vintage accessories. Like the vintage camera bookends or the vintage HD 8mm movie cameras. Something like hat would fit into your existing design.
