Would like your opinion on this chair
I purchased this rocking chair to go into a nursery someday. It needs to be reupholstered, and I am interested to see what people would do with this chair. I have also attached a picture of the crib that I like. Thanks

Both of them are horrible. What are you thinking?
I would reupholster it in white, but get rid of those buttons or add more buttons.
Reupholster it in a bright color.
Reupholster it in a cute pattern.
Don't use this chair in a nursery!

witchita83 I would reupholster the chair in with a paisley pattern of some sort and add a light sand to the wooden parts with a very light stain. Repeat the same sand and stain for the crib. Here's an example of the paisley:

crazycatlady That is a cute pattern. Thanks for the idea. : )

wmpj I like the chair. If it's in good shape, then I would have it reupholstered. It looks crooked at the feet in the picture but that may be from you holding it.

Barnhart Gallery White croc pleather baby! Cool crib too.

crazycatlady Yes, the base was removed, so we just propped it up for the picture. Thanks for all of the advice. : )

judyg My vote was don't use the chair. By the time you buy fabric and pay for the upholsterer to work his magic, you could buy this:

Darzy Good point Judyg! What a bargain at $385 for the glider/ottoman.

Maria Billingsley of J Hettinger Interiors What a great way to start raising your baby with a green alternative..reupholster! This will remain as a family heirloom and the quality far better than today's Pottery Barn stuff. I would cover it in a multi color stripe so depending on if you have a girl or a boy or BOTH, you have all the colors covered..no pun intended! Good luck!

Keitha Love the chair and baby bed but also really like the chair that Judy suggested. If you reupholster I recommend one LARGE button in the center back of the chair. I've been waiting to show this nursery idea to someone !!!! It would be awesome with either chair.

wmpj The chair that Judy suggested is actually $995. The picture will take you to the company's link.

Orange Luca Glider And Ottoman - $385.00 [ Visit Store » ]
I love how a shot of orange can wake up a room — an essential for tired parents and long afternoons in the nursery.

This, instead? I have this chair, with the ottoman (priced separately) in the man cave and it is very comfortable.

ann Love it, over stuff it, and use print for boy or girl, get an ottoman too, you will need to put your feet up, trust me

sam0705 I like it and it is hard to find a modern rocker for a nursery for less than the $1000 range unless you go to Ikea - I've looked! - so even with reupholstery being so expensive, that might still come out more cost effective. That Luca glider is my favorite. If you do reupholster, I like a fun graphic pattern - moroccan or chevron - and I think that would work well with the modern crib. Or...to be a bit safer, a neutral linen fabric and put a fun pillow on it.

crazycatlady Thanks for all of the advice. Yes, I am thinking I need an ottoman made also. : )

nononanna If this is your first baby, may suggest that a rocker is a must, but also someplace to lie down in the baby's room is also - a daybed or single bed. And buy a good changing table - your back will thank you.

eztia This is my favorite nursery photo on Houzz. Not because of the decor, but because there is a place for the mother to sleep when she is too tired to walk back to her own bedroom.

Joanne Heidkamp I had a similar chair, and it was SO comfortable. If yours feels like mine did, I understand why you're dreaming about rocking a little one in it some day. I have no recommendations for fabric, except to pick something that will hide spit-up. Get lots of recommendations for upholsterers - you want someone who can put just the right kind and amount of cushioning to make it feel just right.

kmkh I voted to reupholster in a cute print - but of course you get to decide what a cute print is! Don't make it baby however - eventually it will leave the nursery and you will want it to fit into some other room in your house. What about reupholstering in a clasic fabric, but then also getting a less expensive fabric slipcover in whatever over-the-top baby print you want? If it's easily removed so much the better for cleaning baby spit-up.

Looking at the feet of the crib you like, i instantly though how cool it would be if the feet of the rocker were similarly arched. Could it be done, seeing as feet are already broken?

xlyanna Any color fabric or leather, block or patterned is good, so long as you lighten up the timber on both the chair and crib. Buttons - what ever you like some or none, just make them balance the rest of the chair

Susan Mills Design Hi crazykatlady, like your style. I can see a wallpaper in the floral, the chair in the stripe, this vintage dresser converted into a changing table, and this big smile greeting you from the chair!

loroca I was thinking an outdoor fabric that can be easily wiped, in a geometric pattern (so you can use it once the kids are grown). Then play it up with a cute pillow, which you'll need anyways. I think the first bunny pic is hilarious, take a look.

Jayme Hobbs I kinda like the chair...Depending on your style...I chose a "bright color"...because it is so unique it would look good in a bright color. Sorry..just saw the crib..yes..modern like style..bright color would be cool...

crazycatlady Thank you so much for the advice. I am always changing my mind between a white chair, or a cute pattern. I will post another poll soon with some different fabric options that I found and really like. Man, I am horrible at making decisions. : ) Thanks again!
