Need help on a color with old oak kitchen cabinets
I need to find a color that will make this kitchen look better. Ive painted the family room which is cathedral, smooth stone from glidden and one wall wood smoke from glidden. This is a rental home I have to rent for about 1-2 years. I can't change the cabinets or the appliances. I can paint the Formica (yuck) countertops. The countertops are painted now with a blue/grayish color. Need help. Trying to get it finished so I can move in soon. Any suggestions will help. Thanks!!

nononanna You don't want a wall color just for the kitchen, right? It needs to flow into the other rooms, and match the style and tenor of the house.and furniture. What will the famiy room look like?

Mary Dancey Interiors Black would look great. Make sure that you add a few coats of a poly top coat to protect the newly painted surface.

nononanna I totally agree with the black - it could be fabulous. Not shiny and slick, though - a blt of a rubbed look with some red or gold showing through.

rinqreation Dark grey or charcoal (or even midnightblue) walls, up to 1ft from the ceiling. I bet the countertop will look better next to a dark color too. If you still want to paint the countertop, smooth stone is a very nice color!
