My house was built in 1933. We purchased it as an as-is estate sale. The bedrooms are attic rooms, so they have 3-4' walls on the sides, and slope up to a 7' ceiling. We've lived here for 4 years, and the only room in the house that hasn't gotten any attention at all is OUR room! Our window is on the east side of the house. There is a sort of walk in closet, which is more of an alcove with a closet rod and a light in the southwest corner.
Whomever did the drywall in our room did a very poor job and it's not straight. On one side of the headboard, there's 6" between the top of the headboard and the sloping part of the wall, and 8" on the other end. My husband is capable of redoing the drywall, but we're not wanting to spend a lot of money on the house right now. He build the wall up on the south side because it was a half height wall, and we were concerned about our children either falling or dropping things over the edge. We also added a wall with a door for privacy.
I would like to use a soft mossy green paint that matches our wedding quilt and a light tan paint on the walls and/or ceiling.I have both on hand from other rooms and both match our bedding. I also have fabric that matches that I could make window treatments out of. I just fear that it will feel too dark, and it would accent the uneven walls. The carpet is a very light tan/cream color. Currently the walls are a shade of off-white created by the previous owners' smoking, cheap paint over cheap paint over cheap paint and me being done scrubbing walls and painting by the time we got to move in. I had already spent 4 months painting while pregnant between selling and buying houses.
The furniture I need in the bedroom is a queen bed, two dressers, two night tables....and a 42" dog crate.
The room as we purchased the house.
