Need help for the color of my dinning and living room ceiling
if i color my ceiling in my dinning and living room with dark paint(dark blue/black), do i need a lighter shade for my flooring? or is it alright to have it both (ceiling and flooring) in dark shade?

note: all walls will be painted white except for one wall(focal point). i'm thinking of red or dark brown on that one wall.

olldbobbi How high are your walls? If they're 8', I wouldn't do a dark color on the ceiling, it will bring the ceiling down and make the room look smaller. If you have 12' walls, this would be ok. And I would never do dark floors again, they're constant work and upkeep! Instead I would go for the contrast and use lighter floors.

jrjose @olldbobbi thanks for the advice. I only have 8' walls

olldbobbi Me too, I have 8' walls. I think a dark ceiling would feel cave like. Something you could do is take your wall color, and have the paint store reduce it by 50% for the ceiling. I wouldn't do this with red paint; you could end up with a pink ceiling!

carole once painted a ceiling in a very soft grey, and once tried a bleu aslo, but it just doesn't seem right!!white is what i do now always!!!
i know it sounds boring but how much time do you really spend staring at the ceiling and anything darker than WHITE is like a rainy sky--depressing--
