What wall color, color and material to use for a backsplash in the kitchen with espresso colored cabinets? Open floorplan with the family room. Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Dytecture Agreed, there are just too many options available. But I would use light colored backsplash and countertop to provide some contrast with the dark cabinetry.

Rustico Tile and Stone Since you are wanting a light material for the backsplash, how about considering Cantera Stone Tile? It is a similar and more affordable alternative to Travertine and Limestone, which would match the coloring of the backsplash tile in the above picture. At Rustico Tile and Stone, we offer affordable wholesale prices and great shipping rates all of over the world. We also offer several different color stone options for a more custom look. Take a look at our website at http://www.saltillotileconnection.com/cantera/cantera-set-1/

Kitchen Design Partners Inc. The key is to provide contrast and balance in your open concept floor plan. The expresso cabinets are dark and dramatic. The countertops and backsplash need to offer contrast and lightness. There are countless tile options for the backsplash, but we would probably recommend glass tile elements to be incorporated. The shine in the glass tile, as well as the lighter tone will add contrast. If you want to incorporate a 3rd color into your plan, the backsplash is a great place to do so. However if you prefer neutral tones, stay with white, taupe, beige, and similar light tones. The amount of natural light in the space is also an important consideration. In this kitchen, we balanced the expresso cabinets w/ natural stone backsplash and mosaic glass tile on the hood surround. The light fixtures over the island echoed the colors in the glass tile. The stone backsplash provided a light, quiet backdrop that allowed the hood surround to be the focal point. I hope this helps, good luck with your project.
