What height are you doing your bathroom counters at?
I am noticing that a lot of people prefer the 36" height for their bathroom countertops. I have never had them at that height, but my husband says they are better as he doesn't have to bend as much lol. What is your opinion?

sheriss Just last week we had a 36 inch built in the master. My husband won'
t have to bend over as far. He has a very painful back.

creeser We have the 36" vanity in our master bath and I like it, but both myself and hubby are tall. If it's not too tall for you, I would consider it.

olldbobbi The population as a rule isn't getting shorter, it's getting taller. I think the taller vanity is a great idea.

Ironwood Builders The old 32" vanity was based on a smaller population, true...but the height was set for kids on the original pedestal sinks. So a lower vanity makes sense in a kid's bath...but for the master? Go with 36". I haven't done a 32" high vanity in a master in 20 years.

Gabberts Design Studio Definitely 36"...you (and your husband) will be very happy!

michigammemom I prefer the 36" height, and if you are doing a full bathroom renovation also consider a high-rise toilet.

creeser michigammemom, good point! Yes, consider the 'comfort height' toilets. You can not imagine how much easier they are to manage than the shorter ones.

M.A.S. Construction Make sure you get the elongated bowl with the comfort height toilet. This is a must have for men!

Carolina Photo To Go LLC The higher toilets are a great idea. We have changed out all 4 of ours! My husband would love to have a higher vanity in the Master Bath! It just seems when you have a home the redo list is sooo long particularly when they get some age on them.

princess_q Wow...I didn't realize just how popular/desirable the 36" height or the vanity really is. Hubby is 6' tall and I am 5'4" so I think we should be ok with the taller height. We will leave the kids bathroom counter heights standard. We will also leave the powder room counter standard as we plan on getting a vessel sink. The question is...should we go standard height in the basement or increase it to 36"? The basement is our family space and kids playrooms. Kids and us will be using it as well as stay over guests(about once a a year for a month)

princess_q The comfort height toilet and soft close lid are also on our wish list, but again at a cost of $120 extra per toilet. I will see if we can find a "better" lol toilet with these features included.

olldbobbi Personally I would go 36" in the basement, also, and get the kids one of those 2-step stepstools til they grow into it.

kmkh I see i'm the odd man out here - but I'm only 5'3' - go lower!
We'll shortly be redoing out master bath, probable using a vessel sink so the counter will be lower anyway - hopefully some happy medium.

Judy M I'm five feet even and hubby is 6'3', we have a new 36 inch high vanity going in shortly. I've used the higher ones and like them. We also have the higher toilet.

princess_q 36" cabinets it is! At least for the ensuite and basement. The main bath for the kids will remain at standard height and the powder room a well because we plan on using a vessel sink. I feel good about this decision. Thank you everyone!
