Need ideas for my kitchen
I have a narrow, but long kitchen (11.6' by 24') and would love to have an island. Any ideas?

Ironwood Builders Do you have existing cabinets or are you starting from scratch? The length is no problem but if you have perimeter cabinets, there is not enough room for an island in the narrow dimension. Would you post a floor plan for us to look at?

akocse It will be a remodel and all existing cabinets are coming out. Here is a link to the kitchen layout: http://www.eplans.com/house-plans/epl/collections/wraparound-porches/hwepl00551.html

Dytecture Unfortunate the kitchen is too narrow to have an island without having to remove the entire wall cabinetry, which I don't think most people are willing to give up in order to have an island.

onthefence If you want just additional workspace, there are a variety of kitchen carts available as well. Many of them are wheeled - or light enough for 2 people to lift and move.

onthefence akocse, I would agree about Ironwood Builders. Looking at his projects and seeing his comments, I see a true craftsman. I don't think there are a whole lot of those folks left so it's great to see one now!
