My kitchen wall needs accessorising!
My kitchen has just been redecorated. I am unsure as to what curtains I should use and how I should 'decorate' the big brown wall. All ideas welcome!

cherryade_hotie123 Hey, well, i think u should put a beige or white painting right in the middle. That colour goes really well with brown, and it would blend in with the rest of your white furniture

cherryade_hotie123 Love the matching colours of the sofa and chairs by the way, but i think the wood u have should be darker
Nice house!!!

meganwood28 Thanks. The wall is so big I've struggled to find a picture large enough. Here's the kitchen from a different view

cherryade_hotie123 Or, if you don't want to change the floor, make it match with the curtains, or get light brown ones

meganwood28 Again a slightly different angle

meganwood28 I have wallpaper on another wall in the kitchen. Would two wallpapers look too much?!

olldbobbi It's possible it would be too much, but I'm not seeing any wallpaper in your pics, is it me? How close together would the two wallpapered walls be?

meganwood28 The other wall with wallpaper

olldbobbi I think as long as the two wallpapers don't fight each other pattern and color wise it would be fine. Another idea - if you like to cook and entertain, here's a great quote from Julia Child, this happens to be a decal and too small for your wall, but it is great and perhaps you could or someone you know could actually hand paint it onto the wall: [houzz=

rinqreation You could get some wall cube shelving. And/or large panels with wallpaper on it (and change them once in a while with new prints)

arlendau Perhaps you can find a set of three black and white prints instead of one large one for the facing wall.
We found a set of three large charcoal drawings of a still life. They were done as a college project and each was an example of a different drawing method. In viewing the three, you can see the young artist's talent change. Perhaps, through a local college you can find the same. Every student needs some money - it was a small investment. We call the set of signed drawings our Three Sisters.

balsiva Add a painting on the brown wall, something with a pop of colour. Giving it some visual interest. Like a blue or turquoise. Play with accessories throughout the space to tie it all together. Try to centre couch more on the wall so it looks balanced, but still have enough room for the table.

joannpb I think your colors are great as they are, and I agree that the wall needs some accessorizing. A great color foil for what you have would be copper. Since it's a kitchen area, what about some copper kitchen tools? I know that's used a lot in country style and that's obviously not what you have, but there are some more sophisticated copper accessories out there. Take a look at some of the kitchenware catalogs for ideas.

meganwood28 I really like that idea thanks!

carolins If you have trouble finding artwork that's large enough, you could hang multiple pieces in stead of one:

carolins I just really liked the 'there's no place like home' one, nice typography and colours. In stead of horsey photos you could choose the earlier mentioned magazine covers for instance.

meganwood28 Yeah that would put a nice twist on things

krugkeeper i put a big tree decal on the a similar wall. Easy to do and removable if you don't like it. Also try a pop of color like kelly green for an accent pillow or in the artwork. Look how nice it looks on the TV screen in the room.

meganwood28 I think I need to add some more colour to the room. Love the thought of green
