twylahaj Yellow is one of the hardest paint colors to cover, so make sure to use a primer or a paint that has primer in it. Laminate furniture can be painted (the big white storage piece) if you want. Sand to degloss, use an oil based primer and really good paint. Spray paint is easier, but costs more. Small spaces need to use every inch of space, so try to think vertically for storage. Cover file boxes with interesting fabric in colors that go with your scheme (spray adhesive while the boxes are still flat, hot glue at the edges, then put them together) and use them to hide stuff in plain sight and to add extra pops of color. Pale blue walls or even white walls accented by your orange and teal are likely to give you the most pleasing results, I think. The stripe in Carole's response is great, but might work better for you higher on the wall so it's not covered by your furniture. Fun color scheme!

allykling11 It will be a bedroom with a twin sized bed, small bookshelf, and dresser-all in an orangy-brown wood. I am looking to make an interesting, fun space for my 14 year old daughter.

allykling11 Is the picture on the left a quilt? If so, where could i find it? And yes, there is wood flooring, or rather will be when we tear up the carpeting, and there is wooden furniture that can be painted but i would prefer not to. (The furniture is a dresser, twin sized bed, pink mushroom chair, and a small bookshelf, all the same shade. We would also like to try and fit in a desk.) There is a picture from each corner.

carole is the room wide enough to have the storage on the longest wall and take the bed?and a cornerdesk in between te windows opposite the door where the highcupboard is now?i would also shorten the curtains and if you are going to make(or ask someone) a quilt use some of the leftover material,i think you want to keep them??they would go with the new colorscheme

allykling11 I was thinking these colors for the walls, maybe with the orange as the base and the polka dots or a one stripe design with the teal? And I'm not sure, but I will measure it out and see! With the curtains, I will most likely get new ones.

carole would love to see what you decide on!!!together with the wooden floor i would also bring in white, either in the bedding and curtains/rug or maybe one of the walls,it brings out both colors more than just putting these colors together..
