Kitchen remodel basic color questions
We are completely gutting our kitchen, and are going to do all the work ourselves. The kitchen is "interior" (as in the center of the house, not near any windows) and we are going to have medium to medium dark cherry cabinets, and the floor will be a light beige travertine. It's "L" shape, with a 5'X6' island. I am stuck on which way to go on the counter tops - is it o.k. to go with a dark granite, or should we stick with a light one? And what about pattern - lots of contrast or keep it more plain?

feeny If your cabinets are going to be darker cherry (as opposed to natural cherry) then I think you should go light on the counters. Otherwise your kitchen could look overwhelmingly dark. If your cabinets are more of a natural cherry, then dark counters can look lovely.

paulndarcy Thanks...I was afraid of the "cave" look. The cabinets are definitely on the darker side.
