Also looking for ideas of colour schemes that would go with the kitchen and any other suggestions! Im a huge newbie when it comes to decor!!

Place your large pieces into their new homes. Arrange accent chairs and tables into their places. Stand back and make sure you have good conversation area going...not all seating should face the TV! It should be squared off with each other. Try slightly rotating the seating arrangement to soften corners. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. Once you are happy with it, place a large area rug underneath it to anchor it...all front legs should rest on rug. Place lighting around the room so that when the sun goes down, the whole room is illuminated. Now, place art on walls...eye candy to keep your gaze moving around the room. Change up on things..group pictures in 2's and 4's. large clocks, wrought iron, mirrors, sconces. Lastly, add personal touches with accessories..pillows that bring your favorite color into the room, plant life (or silk), photos, candles, books. The key here is keep items large. Too many small things will look cluttered and ruin everything. Have fun! I do this for a living. It takes time, but have fun with the process.
2. Need new color on your walls. Something warmer because you have a big space.
3. I do love the idea of a sectional, but I would also suggest a sofa (not too modern nor too traditional ) coupled with two arm chairs with a table in between the two chairs.
4.A coffee table and an area rug.
5. Whether you choose a sectional or the sofa with the two chairs, float it in the middle of the room. Avoid placing them against the wall.
6. You may also want to get a side table or credenza to place in back of your couch to anchor it. Which would them give you a surface space for placing a lamp or pictures.
