Family Room Fireplace/ Niche wall Before and After
Davis Design Group
February 11, 2013 in Before & After
We used a precast concrete fireplace surround and accents. Painted a new warmer wall color and did faux finishing on the backside of the niches. We also enlarged two niches and added lights in each one for a soft glow. New accessories are in the works. What do you think?

I love how you completely transformed the look without having to do a ton of demo work. The niche colour is beautiful.

Five Stars. Concrete fireplace surround is especially nice. Can you reveal how much the whole job cost? I'm sure it is worth the cost however much it was. You created quite a space.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. To answer Main Line Kitchen Designs question, the concrete fireplace and accent pieces were around $7500.00. The installation was roughly $2500.00, faux painting and new main color painting around $5000.00. A new mirror has since been added to the center arch section and nicely finished off the look.

Is that trim or paint around the cutouts? Nice idea for those drywall cutouts for us in the burbs...

Is that paint on the art niches. Is it on the inside of the niche or outside of it?

$15,000 isn't bad if you have deep pockets I guess. But most of the structure was already there.

I'm sorry to say it, but the before looks a million times better. Less stuffy and simple. I guess I'm just a modern gal.
