Kared Here are the other couches in the room.

Dezign Studio Inc I like the fabric and colour of the 1st chair, but the 3rd chair would go better, maybe a different shade fabric - beige or tan. The 2nd would look a little lost.

loroca 1st one

backbonemountain I like #2. No, I'm not a decorator, but that's the one I like. I guess I would look a little lost. I will soon be asking for help in my living room.

PaintColorHelp.com Dallas Definitely #2.

Kared I also love the 2nd one. But maybe too small. Will find out if I can get the 3 rd one in the 1stone fabric. Will the lighter colours work?

ASVInteriors Like Einstein - it's all about relativity. You have some big furniture in the room so if you place something less "weighty" it will feel off balance. In addition, where you have placed your chair - by a feature wall, means you need to give it star quality: that won't work with a small/lightweight chair.

All this to say that I think Chair #3 will match up to the weight of your other chairs in both style and size. It will also fit nicely by the feature wall as it commands some "authority". If you really wanted to go out on a limb, I would have it in a bold pattern or colour - (see below)

olldbobbi Can I vote 'none of the above'? I like the third one the best, but those front legs are just awful, sorry, that's just my opinion.
nancymic I would also vote that you keep looking for a chair. I like 2 but can't tell what the size is, but there are endless choices out there...

Kared Thank you Asvinterors!love it.i appreciate all the comments.

Kared What do you think of an ottoman?
ASVInteriors I think an ottoman is a great idea - if your space is rectangular get a rectangular one, and if not, find a square ( - but try to stay away from leather as you have a leather overload in your room. I would look for an upholstered one and put a tray on it for items that you don't want to spill. Best of luck

Dezign Studio Inc Ottoman may look lost against the wall, but may be o k if pulled in front away from the wall. I'm not sure if you will have enough space both in front and between the ottoman and the wall as it also seems like a traffic area from the door to upstairs and in the Living room. You will need approx 30" between ottoman and coffee table and the same between ottoman and the wall. And yes a lighter colour will go.

Lisa Quinlan Design Since it looks like you already have lots of comfy seating and maybe the chair is offering occassional seating as well as room balance I wold go with #2. If you could off set #1 to the right of the front door as it's own reading area that would work too, but might be too cumbersome where the black chair is now. slipper chair offers a little less heaviness and more openness.

colemanp2013 You may have made your choice on the 3 chairs you selected, if not; chair #1 has the fabric choice that would blend with the furniture already in place. However, the arm/wing of the chair may throw off the design.
Jayme Hobbs I like 2, but with no arms, not good for a t.v. watching chair...If u are going to sit and watch t.v. in it, I would choose number one.
carole not sure on either of these 3,but choose a fabric covered chair, there is so much leather already!!do you really need the extra seat??are the diningtable chairs comfy, then i would use them for occasional seating and find a nice cabinet or nothing there but another of your gorgeous paintings !!!so really i am no help at all,sorry....

groveraxle Chair 1 for color, comfort, and style. All your other furniture is bulky. Chair 1 would mix it up a bit.
Kared I love the cabinet idea Carole! Thanks all. Still confused but agree it must be fabric and the colour of the first chair.

n247080 I think the 1st chair suits your personality best based on the decor in your home. I think the other furniture may be a spouse's preference? Maybe it's time to start putting pennies away to replace all the pieces to better suit your inner style?

toni1959 I would go with chair #2 possibly along with a small end table with a lamp. Another option would be to forget the chair and purchase some sort of dresser/table for that area.
Interiors International, Inc. I like #2 it is more stylish and unique then the others in the group.
AMN #2. You don't need a huge chair there. You need to be able to comfortably walk through the room. If you're aching to fill that red wall, get chair #2 and place a *very small* side table next to it.

Something like:

might be fun. -- Of course this all depends on the size of the chair.

aroush Chair no 2 works if you are strictly choosing from above three.
Otherwise keep looking u might get better than these.

Kelly definitely 1

Blawnox Upholstery Those are some nice chairs. Just be sure you are buying a good high quality chair. Check for 8 way hand tied springs instead of zigger springs. Find out of there is a warranty on the foam and what kind of foam it is. You don't want to find the perfect chair and have it start to fall apart on you in a year or two. For more info on how to buy a quality chair check out our website www.blawnoxupholstery.com we have some great articles.

Cancork Floor Inc. Chair #3. It has a several design elements that are complimentary to the sofas. The roll of the arms, it has cushions...the other 2 do not. It has presence yet is sleek enough to be pushed up against a feature wall when not in use.

I would love to see it in different fabric colour. Other than that, I think #3 has the ability to fit in, no matter it's colouring.

movenready properties, LLC I think you need patterned chair. The ones above are too similar to the couches. Find something fun that works with your color pallete.

xerezade Do you really need the extra chair? I feel that the space needs weighed with something other than upholstery. Maybe a really cool chest with a mirror, or a tall bookcase. If you do that than the 2nd chair can be married to it and not look so lost. If you choose to stay with the chair option by itself, you may want to rehang the prints to be closer together, leveled at the bottom and away from the light switch. Good luck.

nononanna #3 is just way too big if you're going to keep both sofas- you have huge things already, and while you don't want to dwarf the chair, #3 is going to take up too much room visually. I might take away one of the sofas, and get either #1 and #2, or #3and #2. A little pattern would be a good thing.

mdpalmer I agree about the leather over-load. I can't tell from the photos if the chair is separated from the other furniture in the room by the circulation path from the door to the stair. If it is, I'd vote for no chair and a well-proportioned visually interesting chest of drawers instead.

decoenthusiaste Putting a chair there is blocking traffic flow from the right and left passages. I suggest a console table under the three pictures. I would eliminate the chair, but if you need the seating try something like #2 below. You need to make a focal point of that niche/alcove behind the straight backed black chair. I sense an African theme going on here, so here are some pics to inspire you to emphasize the niche and select a chair and/or console, and area rug that play into that vibe!

Miller's Paint & Wallpaper I like number 2 for contrast and style with what you have going on in your room. Problem is it might be to small for that area. With your focal wall I definitely think the contrast of chair #2 works best. Chair #3 could work also, just not in that color. I would keep the new chair a warm neutral so the contrast works well with the red wall and art work. Chair #3 is more Traditional but these days we are mixing everything.

Lizabeth I am voting no chair. You are heavy on the leather and a nice nubby textured soft throw over one of the sofas will help soften the room and add needed texture as you have alot of slick surfaces now. Number two chair is the cutest but it will look like it showed up at the wrong party in a cute cocktail dress when everyone else is in jeans and sweaters. A rustic weathered table or small cupboard would be one option. Something iron would work nicely. If you do want an ottoman for more seating get a fabric one with a heavy tapestry print and yes nailhead trim would be fine, but no more leather.

ateichman no chair is my vote as well, ottoman or small console would be great

Ella at Wishack.com I think a chair that has some sort of structure like this one would work, you don't want it to be that large since your couches offer plenty of space. Also, a center ottoman is always a fun choice, consider one that has a flip top with a tray on the other side so you can use it for drinks or food when you have company over. Like I tell all my clients, always measure your space before you purchase something. That way you'll know which size to purchase, square, circular, or rectangular.
