Help with what to do with space where stairwell used to be
February 12, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Just took out a stairway that was in the middle of the house. It is at the back of the formal living room, and between kitchen and living room. My thought for resale would be to use it as a bar. . . but I don't really drink, so it will become a facade of sorts. . . Or should I close it and make it a big closet? I already have a great pantry, so?? Hope you can tell something from the pictures...... need to make a decision today.................I can't tell if the pictures posted or not.

Only one of the pictures posted. It would be nice to see more in order to help.

A bar won't really help resale.

You can't go wrong with more storage. You could go with some sort of living room built-in display with closed storage on the bottom and open shelves on top.

Can you use the space to enlarge the living room? We are doing something similar to create a mudroom, but location likely not good for that in your case.
