Can't decide between composite sink or stainless. We are installing grainte countertops, cabinets are cherry. I am a bit concerned because we have very hard water and I have heard some negative things with the composite sinks and hard water. We have not decided on granite color yet although I like the Golden Beaches color. Will be doing new backsplash and wall treatments etc. current backsplash is mirror. Photo is current kitchen "before". counters are corian and are cracked and bowing badly.

Good morning Patty,
I live in a city with extremely hard water as well, and we installed a silgranite sink in our kitchen 4 years ago.
I can honestly tell you that the sink still looks brand new!!!
I am thrilled with the durability and quality!
I hope this helps.
Caroline :)

Thank you for the comment. Did you go with a dark color sink? I am wondering if a light color would work better. Originally thinking a dark brown or black.

My pleasure!
Ours is a mid-value grey.
I would make your colour decision based on if you want your sink to stand out or blend in.
(I know with this product, you don't need to worry about stains. (whether light or dark)

We've used a white Blanco silgranit sink in the last two kitchen remodels, and would do it again in a heartbeat. They hold up beautifully.

Granite Grannies
If you have a high end composite and a high end stainless to choose from, then go with whatever you prefer aesthetically/ functionally. I had a composite in my home with hard water for years without a problem, and I've never had a client complain about a composite.

I have had a black silgranite and had no problems with it, however, we have found it is frustrating if you wish to use it for more utilitary ways. I often wash my paint trays in my kitchen sink and I don't think I would take that risk with silgranite, I'm sure I'm a little unusual in this regard but it's something to consider if you don't have a utility sink elsewhere in your house. I still enjoy stainless in most applications but have you considered copper?
