a) what types of shrubs and trees grow well in your region - find them and plant them along the wall to hide the house - make sure they grow fast enough to hide it.
b) To the left o your paving stone path, I would add a series of palm trees (small) that lead the eye from the palm trees into the distance towards your garden (Sago palm at the very closest) and then some smaller palms getting bigger as you get to the end of the garden.
