Mark Doe I would say spend the extra money and buy a nice wool carpet, It will be durable and long lasting for the abuse a stairway takes

LizaJane Gorgeous home! Not sure if you are familar with Masland carpets but they have some really fabulous runners for staircases that you can purchase. Their website is: www.maslandcarpets.com
Also, I see your paint color is very neutral. You could go with any color...what are some of the colores in your home? I have always wanted a leapard carpet! :-)

aniluap2 Like Liza suggestions those patterns work with any style and can transition if your style changes.

dlkula Thanks Liza! These patterns are a little bold for me though:) we want to stick to reds greens golds. Walls are BM Powell buff and chestertown buff.

Erin Beautiful home. Have you check out Dash and Albert carpets? I've lusted over their stair runners. Your house is so neutral you could go with anything really. I could see the 'Stockholm' woven runner.

Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design I was looking for a leopard pattern which I have used in traditional homes before, but came up with an antelope instead. The color should work for you.
