ASVInteriors Yeah, that looks like a japanese maple to me. There are different kinds, some grow upright, some are umbrella form, and some have green leaves in the summer turning red, and others have deep red leaves, turning red. Show this picture to your garden supplier and they will be able to help you.
Also bear in mind that most Japanese maples like dappled light - but again worth checking with your local supplier. Best of luck
