How timely, I just moved into my first new construction house and it is my first two story home. I have beautiful stairs very similar to yours but I am afraid with kids running up and down that they will get alot of wear and tear very soon. don't know anything about runners but I need to learn. Personally I lean towards neutrals.

Here you go:
You want a sisal with a binding down the side. I use vinyl binding because it is most durable . Something contrasting.

What's the reason you want a runner? To prevent slipping or for the visual aspect?
I think your stairs look wonderful! I'd have steel/rubber strips routed in.
