morsereb I don't get "mid-century modern" from this space. I would go with something with espresso finish wood, simple, and fabric seats/backs. No arms, Overstock has a decent selection! ASVInteriors Could you use these Starck perspex chairs? They are quite sturdy, modern but don't take up too much space in the room.

bojaby I would like parson chairs. You could use a pop of color. How about red or orange? Check Overstock for reasonably priced chairs.

I realize your question is about the dining room but I just wonder why you are completely ignoring your beautiful fireplace and blocking your view and light with the couch? You have a nice large space. Choose your focal point and arrange your furniture around it, Don't be afraid to float a couch or chairs with the back to the dining room. It will create a nice definition.
