Need help for kitchen
Has anyone ever renovated there home to have an "open-concept" kitchen? I would love to do this in my house, and every designer keeps telling me not to because I'll lose storage space. I love the look and just want to weigh my options before I start renovating. HELP!!!! Any ideas, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Dezign Studio Inc All depends on the size and layout of your kitchen. Also if you are ready to change the layout completely, like moving fridge, stove or sink, not necessarily all. Pictures of your space would help.

Dezign Studio Inc Which wall do you want to open up ? The one with the sink or the refrigerator / Also what is on the other side - Living room/ family room. Also you need to consult an Architect, to know if its a load bearing wall. In any case the bulkheads will have to stay . I assume the third wall has the stove, but is there place for a pantry,to compensate for storage lost, unless you do not need the extra storage.

Dytecture Opening up existing rooms would be a more economical option that visually expand your living spaces without having to do an addition. It is more suitable with today's more causal lifestyle.

yellows55 Have a big enough pantry for food, etc. I was thinking of the wall with the sink, which goes into the living room. We also have a formal living room and would love to have one "great room". Would definitely have to have some sort of pillars or something.

Overland Remodeling & Builders Except for the open space you're looking for, what else is on your wish list for the new kitchen? More counter space? More storage? Do you like the existing floor-plan or you thought on expanding?
