Hardwood in kitchen
I'm seeing a lot of pictures with hardwood in the kitchen. Is ceramic tile passée??
I have wood floors in my kitchen and I love them. We recently redid our kitchen and decided we wanted to stain the existing natural maple a dark walnut color. It looks great and the floor is over 20 years old. I have ceramic tile in my master bath--I am not fond of it at all. The bathroom is about 15 years old and the ceramic tile is cracked and chipped in several areas--and the bathroom is not a high traffic area like the kitchen. Overall, I think wood floors are very forgiving and they add a lot of character. I even have wood floors in my powder room.

Not necessarily, but wood is definitely having its moment in the kitchen. It often looks and feels much warmer.
