How do you make a finished basement cozier?
I'm working with a brown/beige/neutral palette. To make the room appear cozier, should I paint the walls darker than the couch, or should I paint the walls lighter and get a darker couch? I have lots of textured throw pillows, which I'm hoping will help cozy up the basement too. Any suggestions on some tried and true warm Benjamin Moore paint colors (not yellowy or pinky, but a true brown)?

All 4 Show, LLC I love the above photo! I personally like light walls with dark furniture, especially in a basement!

AMN What kind of lighting do you have down there? Lighting makes a HUGE difference in any room.
I remember my friend's parents' finished basement. It had all the right pieces--cozy couch, fluffy carpet, warm wood accents, pillows, art, etc., but it had big fluorescent tube lighting. Made all the hard work put into the space (including paint color choice) completely moot.

All 4 Show, LLC I used an Olympic paint called Tightrope (from Lowe's) that is a perfect light/neutral paint that has no hint of pink or yellow in it...Good luck....
