Hardwood work vs painting
I've gotten conflicting feedback about what to tackle first - sanding and polishing hardwoods or painting the whole place. I have about 3 weeks time before moving to a new place and have time for sprucing up. Which to do first?

If you choose to do the floors first, look carefully at the finish details. Floor finishes need to cure before putting down rugs and that includes drop cloths. After a few days you can protect the floor while you work, but you will need to remove all the covering at the end of each day.
Because we own the flooring equipment we often do two rounds of floor work. First, prep, prime and do first coat on the walls. Then, sand, seal and put the first two coats on the floor. Then we do cabinetry and trim carpentry and final coat on the walls. Then, after everything is done and no more chances of floor scratches etc, we screen and final coat the floor.
