What color for modern kitchen
hey, I have to pick a paint color for the kitchen, I love modern eclectic, style, I cannot change the counter or cabinets but will change the handles. I having trouble finding a color that creates a modern look with traditional cabinets and counter. In a perfect world I would have white cabinets and white counters but I must make due.
help please:)

hockey456 If you love white, paint your walls white and change you knobs/pulls to glass. I like these because they will bridge the gap between traditional and contemporary

Add some steel small appliances in contemporary styling on the countertops along with more white accessories. You might come closer to your white/white dream kitchen feel. Good luck.

dany_hawkins Since your cabinets are so dark you need to paint the walls a lighter color , otherwise it will be all too dark. Benjamin Moore have a very light beige called " barely
Beige" or you can always choose those whites with undertones. As far as the pull out/knobs these stainless steel ones I have in my kitchen are from Home Depot and they are very modern and sleek .

dany_hawkins Since I have a cooktop and a drawer-like under that does not open , I putted a very long pull out there (25") and it gave an even more modern look to my kitchen , plus it serves as a towel holder and the rest are 5" long. Since I see you have a stove maybe you can put somewhere else (on a bigger drawer ?!) .

Main Line Kitchen Design You may want to measure the distance between the holes for your present handles and buy new handles that work for those holes. The stainless steel bar pulls shown above will come in any size you choose. If you are looking for a modern color for the walls - greys are in and a lite grey will keep the room light. Replacing the beige countertop would help the effort to get a look I think you might like.

suburbandecorista I like the idea of going with a midtone grey that has a beige undertone (greige, you might say). That won't alienate the beige tones of your countertop but it will create a bit more of a modern feel in your kitchen that will compliment your beautiful cabinets. Your hardware on your cabinets is fine. It's clean and matches your appliances - don't change it unless you find something you love that will work with the existing holes....

ASVInteriors I don't know you or your tastes but if you want to go for something quite different, why not paint your walls a muted orange or rust and change out your cabinet hardware for some interesting but different coloured knobs and handles...

nancy22032 I like the addition of some bold color - as it is now your kitchen looks so severe. Go crazy with paint - it can be changed cheaply if you tire of it.

olldbobbi I would use white or off-white, but if that doesn't interest you, here's an ideabook on dealing with dark cabinetry:
