Kitchen help
This is a budget project. Peninsula in my condo kitchen attached to a perpendicular wall houses dishwasher and sink and a small cabinet. Dishwasher steam damaged the underside of the corian countertop. Builder did not use barrier protection. Along the back of peninsula a 1 ft high wall forms another countertop surface that doubles up as a breakfast bar. I need to replace the countertop. Should the two surfaces of the peninsula match? And should I change the rest of the countertop in the kitchen to match the peninsula? As of now there is the same material on all surfaces. Would that be bad from a design point of view to change just the surface around the sink and leave untouched the breakfast area?

Mary Dancey Interiors It wouldn't be bad design to have more than one colour of countertop in your kitchen it is done quite often on areas that are separate like an island. Can you post pictures so we could have a better idea of your kitchen layout and give advice specific to your needs?
Cheers
Mary

spmm Without a picture it is hard to say, most important thing is to ensure that you don't have to do it again too soon, is the space around the dishwasher large enough? My dishwasher fits in a tight 60x60cm space and vents to the front but only when it is drying. Mdf and Laminex surrounding panels. No problems after 4 years.

Dytecture I agree photos would be very helpful to explain your current situation. Counter tops should match especially if they are visible in the same room.
