Need help making a statement on my tall walls.
My walls are tall and boring! They do nothing to complete my decor. I love my furniture, rugs, upholstery, lamps, etc which are all one of a kind and colorful, but the walls, save for a few large works of art and a mirror, are just plain painted drywall. No pattern, no texture. My style is eclectic -
European antiques, Moroccon rug, Indonesian accents, modern art.
I like the general Dijon-mustard color, but I want more going on here. All my colors, patterns, textures are on the ground plane, or within 9' of the floor, but the walls are 18' tall.
Ideas, please!!!

CMR Interiors & Design Consultations Inc. You could do a rustic paneling that is non classical and would work better with your scheme-it could run off of the soffet over the door or you could just split the room up height with paint colors. This is not the look for your place but it gives an example of high ceilings and how to incorporate paneling.

CMR Interiors & Design Consultations Inc. Also what about adding a fireplace area to your living room instead of having a bench there?

Denice Shuty That's okay, it wasn't that apparent in my other photos. That wedding cake fireplace "mantel" and chimney has always perplexed me. I coverered the bottom-most mantel in wood, but the two upper tiers were just drywall - which scuffs too easily, so I "papered" those shelves in a decorative parchment, then lacquered it. I didn't want to cover the top two mantels with wood like the bottom mantel because it would just make the whole wedding cake top bigger. But I could never figure out what to do with the chimney that separates the living room from the stairway. I don't have any type of ceiling moulding.

Denice Shuty Knotsck, Thank you! I made both the valances and sofa table (salvage pieces I re-purposed) , along with the wallpaper roller table lamp, all the pillows, table skirt, and cushions. I also refinished/painted all the wood furniture. I sew a lot.
