Need help with apartment dining room
I have a large dining room in my apartment. The walls are similar to a seafoam green color with red carpet. I am at a huge loss as to what do with this space! I'm interested in an eclectic look where friends would be comfortable hanging out on weekend nights. Any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated!

Kevin Wild - IBB Designer If you could paint the walls, that would be my #1. I would go with a lighter grey color and pop with great neutral furniture.

I think a great look would be a rustic-eclectic or bright colored-eclectic.

Kevin Wild - IBB Designer I would also put a neutral color rug over that red carpet to help break it up. Maybe a nice sisal or printed rug.

the essentials inside I agree - paint + a rug are great ideas.

Jessica - a few questions, if you don't mind.

do you have furniture already you are going to put into the room? If yes, can you post some pictures?

Where does the door go? Is it a closet door?

Have you designed the rest of the apartment - if so, what style?

Do you know the measurements of the room?

raeleemllr I agree with the grey colored walls but I would also consider white. A red carpet could acctually work to your advantage because that color is awesome. Maybe layer another rug over it?. If you are going for an eclectic look I would go with a long narrow table with some mismatched vintage chairs in wood and white. Idk what the bright light looks like but consider picking up a thrifted chandelier? Definetly pick up an ugly credenza from goodwill or something and give it a coat of spraypaint. You can add some unique hardware to it. If that one door leads to a closet I would take the door off and turn the small room into a bar! Lastly I suggest a mirror hanging to make the room feel larger.

Jessica Backs The room is approximately 11'x 16'. The door to the left is where my washer, dryer, furnace, and water heater are located. The door to the right is the main bathroom, which connects to my bedroom. The light fixture is brass, which I'm not 100% sure if my landlord would be okay with me replacing it. He would, however, approve of painting since the previous tenants marked the walls up. I have a hand-me-down table and chairs from my parents that I could like to fill this space with. I can and will paint them whatever colors would look the best and fit this space. I've attached a couple pictures. Sorry for the items on the table.

Jessica Backs Would the table look best painted white with chairs black or both painted white?

ASVInteriors I would paint your dining room the same colour as your carpet - a deep red. In the evenings by candlelight this creates a warm and cosy atmosphere and red is passionate and also puts food in a good light. If you are young all the more reason to dare!

raeleemllr I would say paint the bottom on the table white and leave the wooden top. Chairs...white.

ASVInteriors I would keep the brass light and red would work beautifully with your table and chairs.
