How should I paint these 3 parts of the wall
My 3 year old son's room is in desperate need of some colour. I loved the blue and white horizontal stripes we painted in our old house and I would like to stick to wide stripes (not necessarily horizontal). I can't visualize how to paint the walls in his new room because there is a chair rail and a peak above the top beam in the room. There are essentially 3 parts to this wall. Should I paint stripes in the middle section only, and leave the top and bottom solid? Should the bottom be painted blue, and the top white? The 2 side walls do not have the attic part. Any suggestions?

rinqreation Look for a cute wallpaper (take him with you) for the middle part and pick two colors from the paper.

Dytecture Here is a similar idea, stripes at the bottom, a solid blue in the middle, and white in the sloped area.

ASVInteriors What dytecture's suggestion does is give an anchor to the base, colour to the focal point, and height to the top. I think it is an excellent template

Barbara Griffith Designs Choose complimentary shades of yellow, red, green and blue paint colors (if you want to choose just 2 colors..OK) (I Have done this before and I would not pick the brightest shades. Paint different width vertical stripes that go from floor to ceiling (all three sections). Simply tape them off, some wider and some narrower, across the wall repeating the colors..just different widths. When I did them for a client's child's room, we went all the way around the room, making sure you never finished a color at a corner..it had to go onto both walls at least somewhat.

Design Zeal Wow, that room has some great architecture, but I feel like the chair rail was a bit of an after thought. I would first suggest that you remove it (usually up with small nails) since that seems to be throwing everything off. If you can't do that, I would suggest painting it into the stripes (i.e. paint it whichever color that section of the wall's stripe is) to camouflage it. That way you can do the stripes like you want on that wall. I would paint the peak and the side walls one of your stripe colors. Hope that help!
