Undecided where to build fireplace
Undecided where to build fireplace in great room. 14ft. Cathedral ceiling on west wall. Build fireplace on south wall or on west wall. ? Worried about maybe too much light coming in if .fireplace is built on south wall and more windows in cathedral ceiling(west wall). Thoughts anyone?

Ironwood Builders A floor plan of the space and a north arrow will help the designers help you. I like the idea of the 14' tall fireplace in the gable end of the cathedral ceiling room....can't comment about sun or windows or much more until you can post a floor plan!

Ironwood Builders I suppose so...but you will get the input of far more design savvy people here if you can take a picture or screen shot and upload it to Houzz. I mostly give advice about the nuts and bolts stuff on this forum...try to let the designers rule the "taste" stuff...but your post was languishing, so I jumped in. It can be overwhelming, the number of responses and the varying opinions...but some will resonate and you will have a better understanding of what your goals are at the end. There are instructions for uploading photos on the "using houzz" tab on the side bar...under design dilemma? I'll check back in a while...

jeannie1953 Should I keep the fireplace on the south wall or put it on the west wall? Not sure what to do?
