Chair size/placement
Width-wise, my living room rug starts an inch or two from the hearth on one side and ends a couple of inches under a bar on the other. Because of the hearth, it is about five inches off center in the room. I have found two chairs that I like, but I'm afraid they're too big. If I center them with the room, they probably fit fine, but if I center them on the rug, one ends up very close to the bar or they're too close together. In the photo, the pink chair is about the size of the chairs I'm interested in, and the paper bag represents the size of the second chair. I guess my main question is, do the chairs need to be centered on the rug or can they be centered in the room, even though the rug has a symmetrical design and an obvious center? Secondly, does this chair size seem to large and would I be better off with something armless and smaller? Thanks for your time!

ASVInteriors Without more pictures of the room, it is a bit hard to tell. However, my motto is if you can't fix it, disguise it. Can you try placing a coffee table over the main part of your carpet? This will at least distract the eye. Try it out with a large towel like you did for your second chair.

Linda Hamilton Will it fit in the dining room?
Might suit the dining room better than living room.
