Master bedroom flooring ideas?
Needing to replace carpet in master bedroom. I'm looking at hardwood or tile that looks like hardwood. We have hardwood in dining room, entry way and hallway that leads to master bedroom. Lots of indirect light in bedroom. Should floor contrast or blend with furniture and/ or hallway that connects?

bubblyjock It's OK to put different softwoods together, and different hardwoods together, but the two don't often mix happily - think of pine (soft) and oak (hard) - they're not a happy match.

One that spans both quite well is cherry.

I'd go with a similar wood in the bedroom as the floors elsewhere. If the other floors are real (or engineered) wood, then you're safer sticking with that vs a tile that is simulated: the real thing always shows up the imitation, and cheapens it somehow!

virginiaroy We floored our upstairs bath, hallway and bedroom to match... We laid large area rugs in bath, hallway and bedroom which adds color and keeps continuity... We kept the flooring a medium neutral color. It looks beautiful, and flows so nicely. Everyone remarks about it.
