Need to know about tile
1954 ranch style house, I want to retile the bathroom floor. Problem is that the old tile has been set in 3 1/2 inches of concrete and wire. Is there anyway I can just retile over it since the old stuff is so secure already?

Ironwood Builders Depends...will the tile setter warranty his work if you don't? Will the build up mean cutting a door off that you'd rather not? are you going to replace the vanity or just tile around it (do you have a vanity)? Can you grind the existing tile to rough up the surface enough for the thin set to bond or will the grinder just send it flying? The additional weight on the structure from the may be OK...it may not be.
