At a standstill with paint colors! please help!
Hi, I have posted here before regarding some wall art and paint. We still are having trouble deciding on paint colors to work with the large wave mural that takes up one entire wall in our bedroom. We do not want to go any baby blue or basic blue. I also wanted the hall leading into bedroom (across from colors) to be a different color from the bedroom (possibly a beige) Having lots of trouble figuring out what color would work with wave wall mural and possible beige entrance. We were looking at benjamin moore grays and silvers but are open to any and all suggestions. Thank you so much!

krista4230 No color on the ceiling. Would we be able to do a silvery gray on wall (behind pillows) and still be able to do a fun entry to bedroom in some sort of beige?

ASVInteriors You have such a dramatic mural what a pity to not let it fulfil its full drama! I imagine a deep petrol blue - I have cut a selection of Benjamin Moore blues for your in the range I am thinking of. Of them all Santa Monica blue seems to work with both your idea of beiges or silver greys

DIAspoton silvery gray for the walls. . beige seems a bit tame and certainly not much fun for the hall. how about coral or orange?

conniedial I think beige would be disapointing to you when you finished it...been there ;) Maybe consider a deeper silver gray...with a blue undertone in the bedroom..and then not beige but a light neural gray in the hallway? something that will not fight the bedroom or the adjoining rooms off the hallway?? I think if you might actually like the idea of painting the ceiling AFTER you get through with the walls in the bedroom..maybe the color of the hallway that compliments the mural?

krista4230 I like the idea of blue undertone and light neutral gray. Do you think blue on the walls will be overwhelming with the blue wave mural (blue on blue)

conniedial Not if you go with a gray undertoned blue or visa versa..just not toooo blue! maybe more like a muted shade...I find that muted shades of blues are warm and don't jump out and bite ya.. in ASV's color pic..the left side and bottom row appear to have the muted tones I think would be awesome...

lepstein I like ASV's blues. In the hall, i'd go with a buttery yellow that picks up the edge of the wave on the mural.

krista4230 Think we narrowed it down for the bedroom color. Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter HC-172. It looks great against the wave. Thoughts?

Steve Vitale Check out paint colors from Restoration Hardware... They have a variety of colors but the hue and saturation are modern soft tones and the paint is high quality... I used their neutral beige with brown in my basement and it was the exact "feel" that I wanted

MARLENE BURNS FINE ART i'll be devils advocate from an artist's point of view. with a mural that size, you need the opposite color on the color wheel to compliment it.....do a search for a color wheel online and you will find the perfect compliment! keep the saturation low or it will pop too much. choosing a color that is in the mural, diminishes the murals' impact.

krista4230 update: Painted the bathroom bm 2130-60 "silver gray" and it just did not work. The paint was just hinting too much periwinkle under the bright lights. We went with Buckland Blue HC-151 and couldn't be happier!
