Living Room Help (Continued)
I've taken past suggestions for my living room, and I've purchased some items to choose from. It is getting there but I still need some help!
1. Do the silver or the red curtains look better? (Sorry I'm not able to put them on the wall for a better look!)
2. Still use a red carpet if I go with the red curtains? Or what other color?
3. Lamps - how would a crystal lamp, white shade with silver bands on the top or bottom, look? Or a red shade? Better suggestion?
I need to get another red pillow cover. Not sure if I will use the black and cream pillow or not. I fear overdoing the red.

Jayme Hobbs I like the silver drapes, and I would not go with a red rug. Pic is for color example..

groveraxle Definitely the silver drapes. The room is getting a little fussy with too many small prints. I would aim for a rug with a big bold design:

Wendy Hummingbird Designs I would use a silver tone lamp..... Here is an example it will spark up the area . :)

Carol Vigneau I love the colour of your walls and was wondering what is the colour of them. Also the colour of your sofa

ASVInteriors This is really looking good! Definitely the silver curtains - they deflect light and have movement without being overbearing. If you go that way I like your red lamps - if you go with the silver you might suddenly find yourself in a 1930s Hollywood boudoir in the movies!
I quite like the asymmetry of your cushion colours. I would leave them and add a red long pillow to one of your chairs.

Jayme Hobbs The silver lamp suggestion is a good one...very nice.

Lydia I would go with the silver curtains and the red lamps or else nothing will stand out. Two different types of lamps would break up the monotony. Don't put too much red though.....it'll look too "big box store" style. Try some patterned pillows for the chairs to incorporate the red and some other colours.

suess778 The curtains I have here are more grey than silver (as I first said). Just to be sure - it is okay that they are so much like the sofa color?
I've tried to find a way to keep the lamps shown here, but I'm just not feeling them. Now to find the right end tables. Originally I was going with black, and then black with glass tops.
Will either of these art pieces go in this room?

ann Silver with a pale teal color for accent, crystal lamps

Carol Vigneau suess, can I get the color of the wall from you as this would work well with my new sofa and my existing chairs

suess778 I'm sorry....I meant to get back earlier with the color..... Tony Taupe by Sherwin Williams is the wall color. Charcoal grey is the sofa color - from the Levon Collection.

sandra1942 Definitely silver curtains. I would use crystal lamps with soft grey shades and interesting finials. Black tables would make the room look small. I would look for tables with glass tops and open shelving under for adding other color (books). I love red. I would add rectangular pillows, not plain red to the chairs. Are you replacing the carpet? Area rugs on top of carpet are difficult. There are some wonderful carpet offerings with multiple colors. The sofa looks unsittable, too many pillows. Too many matching ones. This is where you can add more color -- florals, plaids. Decide on your art work before adding other colors with pillows and accessories.

6500 Love the two patterned chairs! I would not use the black/white pillow.
Silver drapes, crystal lamps with solid shades. A throw would be nice on sofa.
Do you need a rug if you already have carpet? Definetely not RED.
A bit of bling in your accessories perhaps. Crystal, shimmery silver, red.
An inexpensive large, canvas painting above sofa. Hits of red, black, white, grey.
Drapes are gorgeous and would look nice "pooling" on the floor. Make sure they are not too short!

cjohnston I also prefer silver curtains. It's nice that they match the sofa. I like the black and white prints you found - and the iron scroll could be OK if you want to add a rustic touch to the room. Perhaps you could consider white end tables, which would stand out against your dark sofa. I think black would look too "heavy." Crystal lamps would be perfect, with simple white shades - very sophisticated.

groveraxle These exact paintings would be FABULOUS over your sofa. Of course, you probably can't get them, but something like these would be great.

sandra1942 Art is very personal. Pick what "speaks" to you.
