Need advice on where to put dining table/bar/island in my kitchen. PLEASE HELP!
I just bought my first house, which has a kitchen that has been renovated but not completely finished. The floor plan was opened up so that the kitchen opens up right into the living room which has a corner fireplace.
When I first saw the house I envisioned a skinny island type bar running lengthwise in the kitchen with barstools on both sides. Now I'm thinking that might be too tight of a space.
A friend suggested I put a rectangular table in front of the window, off center. I just don't know what to do!
BTW that ugly traditional chandelier is going to be removed and I am planning on putting the ikea maskros chandelier above the table/island (wherever that ends up).....
Where and what should I use for a dining table? I'm at a loss. Thanks!!

pybo Perhaps banquette seating by the window would work for your space as there are two pt of entry that can not be block in your space. Search Houzz for banquette for more pics.

Jayme Hobbs How wide is the kitchen in the center area where all the cabinets, counters are? Is there room for a small island..?

violinist3713 Banquet seating right under the window with a small table would be perfect!

Jayme Hobbs I was thinking a more compact, square island than a long one..will look for pics

Jayme Hobbs I was thinking something like this in the middle, nearer your work areas, which would also help with more convenience..u could paint it or stain it a contrasting color to your cabinets. You also could do a table near the window..
