tiger1girl I would put a round table and some great art on the wall! Somewhere to lay keys!

sharpkl You are so fortunate to have a great area to make a statement as people walk in the door. This should tell who you are and make it great. Go bold with art or mirror. Table with animal print stool under. Plant or orchid in tablescape. Animal, mirror, plant, light, table, stool.

SPKCreative Abstract Art www.spkcreative.com Hi azanhem,

I agree with tiger1girl's suggestions.

For art, how about something like Shall We Dance?, Just Dance, Animal or "Showstopper" http://www.spkcreative.com/large-multi-view/gallery/1896002-32-89251/Photography/Digital/Floral.html#.USTv2aXZrA4?

Best,
Shari

A. Peltier Interiors Yes this is a fantastic space! I like how you have taped off a chest. That would look great, so would some of the other suggestions like a round table or a council with a stool under it. I think you need to do a little research to see what you like best. Browse through the entryway photos on houzz and add some photos to an idea book. Then you will get a better sense of what makes you happiest.

Dytecture Here is one idea.

Judy M Something similar to this but downsized to fit your space. If your taste is not this traditional, just do chest mirrors etc in a style that suits you.

DIAspoton a water wall. theentire wall is covered in tile and the area on the floor that's taped out becomes the basin.the water trickles down the wall from10-15 spots. this becomes a beautiful conversation piece while bringing the sound of nature indoors. a few discreet lights will need to be placed throughout the wall. maybe an uplight near the bottom.

the fun thing is you can give it any style with your tile choice. from ultra contemporary to spanish to old world.

lsullivan712 I like the idea of adding Crown molding. I would then add a large colorful picture. You probably have room for a chair and small table,

Miller's Paint & Wallpaper I like Dytecture's idea. If you don't want to put a mirror & Lamp you can put a nice colorful piece of art work and a table.

sharpkl May fit your area...

morristhecat You have endless possibilities here of course. You can make a statement with an appropriate rug. I bought mine many years ago and loved it then and still love it although I seem to get tired of my other rugs. And I have a contemporary table with glass top and curved wood sides for legs with a shelf at bottom. I have a watercolor of the famous boathouse in forest park in st. louis. So make it special to you, really love going past it every time you do. If you are contemporary of sorts, you would not do crown moulding.
Give it that wow factor. I will attach a couple of pictures hopefully later.

olldbobbi I notice there's an outlet there, what about a beautiful palm tree with an uplight?

decoenthusiaste I think your ceiling is too low for crown, but you could use a great little semi-flush drum fixture in that hallway to the left. I think a simple table and accent chair with a piece of art would look great.

Citapore A Square shaped cowhide leather rug might just fit the space...

mareiam Put a small table with a mirror above it on that wall. Nothing too deep but interesting

handymam A half round table and a mirror above it to reflect light into the space.

Lots of great ideas here, but I think sharpkl said it best. It is an area that will immediately tell people who you are. Almost like a little taste of what your style is like for the rest of the house.

crazycatlady I say a cute buffet with some drawers and doors to give you some storage (who couldn't use more storage) and then a cute painting above. Maybe a lamp, or some cute vases also.

Rugs Direct We just did a post about entryways on our Facebook page today! A rug would be a nice accent to your entryway. This rug would accentuate crazycatlady and sharpki's ideas nicely.

carolins Okay, so I'm not into Feng Shui, but I do know that you shouldn't hang a mirror right opposite the front door. Energy that comes in through the front door is reflected right back out again is the thought behind it. Now I don't know if your front door is right opposite this wall, but it would be a wonderful place for a nice, decorative table with a mirror above :-)
Beautiful cat.

Jennifer Hogan I love the idea of a large piece of artwork or a large sculpture. My only objection to having a small table or seating is if you have teenagers or a messy husband, you may find the table filled with stuff they brought in and the floor covered in the shoes they took off when they entered the house and sat down - will it become a catch all for stuff?
