A. Peltier Interiors I think the idea of a burgundy leather couch popped into your husbands head because it is safe and it matches the floors almost exactly. You really should be going in the opposite direction. In fact I am having a hard time thinking of something that WOULDN'T go with those floors. They are very classic and allow you to do almost anything. Do you have other furniture you are working with or are you starting from scratch in this room?

parvathi87 Yeah, we are starting from scratch with this room.... so r u saying burgundy goes well, but we should actually be looking at a contrasting color?

A. Peltier Interiors if you put a burgundy sofa in room with those colored floors you wont really be able to see any contrast because everything will look the same. I would spend some time on Houzz looking at family rooms or living rooms. Add anything to your ideabook and then when you are finished looking go back and review everything. you will start to see a pattern of things that you like. It might be a beige sofa or rooms with color. Once you have done your homework and know what you are looking for you cant hen start to fill your space. Here are a few photos below, i have no idea if this is your style but they do have the same colored floors.
