decoenthusiaste Lots of ideas, but they would start with fresh furnishings that reflect the style of the room. Are you ready to go that far? Can you post the view you'd see if standing in front of the FP? I see columns to the left and right? How does that play out? Are you OK with color? This is a very brown and beige room with lots of potential if you're up for some big changes.

decoenthusiaste The former owner's furniture was much more suited to the style of the architecture. This looks to be a formal living room. Is there a casual family room where your furniture would feel more at home? My first thought upon looking back at the entry, is that the door and the arched treatment is all way off-kilter! I would seriously consider putting in a solid wall so the foyer is separate and the entry to the living room can be centered on the front door. That will also give you another wall on the right for furniture arrangement or a nice built-in bookcase. The only furniture you have that seems to suit the room is the wing back chair, the table beside it and perhaps the piece of furniture supporting the TV.
The most obvious candidates for removal are the oak end and coffee tables, plus the country braided rug under it. If you could find replacements for those, things could work. I'd try a round wood table and a very large area rug big enough so that you could "L" the sofas and have all of their front feet on the rug. Look for other tables in the same finish as the wing back's legs. I think colors can be based on the pillows you have. Can you post a closeup of one of them? What exactly are the colors? Often the camera and lighting make it difficult to tell the exact shade, so try to describe them to me, please.

decoenthusiaste Here are the Sherwin Williams colors detected in your pillow: 7552 Bauhaus Buff, 7503 Sticks & Stones, 6173 Cocoon ,2839 Roycroft Copper Red, 2831 Classical Gold, 6879 Daring, and of course 6258 Tricorn Black. We are dealing with computers, so can't be 100% certain, and it didn't pick up on the blue in the upper right hand corner. Get the color strips that contain these and I'm sure some of the shades on them will be a good match to the pillow colors. Let me know what you think of them. How about the idea of closing off the foyer? You can still use a couple of the columns to dress the entry into the living room if you want to maintain the formal look.
