Would like to jazz it up with backsplash.
Granite: Giallo Ornamental
Cabinets: Maple with Mocha Java Glaze

please give suggestions for a blacksplash. Would like a simple clean look but with a little color to add to a beige brown kitchen.
Also for behind vent hood should blacksplash go all the way up to ceiling or end at top of cabinet height? Ceiling height is 10 ft

Rustic Brick and Stone I've seen a number of kitchens using a mosaic travertine tile. You can mix up the tiles to include Noce, Ivory, Beige, or Mocha. There are also sizing options such as 1x1, 1x2, 2x2, 2x3 etc. It's a nice look that is different than your standard glass or porcelain/clay tiles.

Total Quality Home Builders, Inc. Tile with a bit of glass is a hot pick for a backsplash right now. I would only take it to the top of cabinets, if that. You could stop at the hood curve then carry your paint down the side of the hood vent pipe. As far as color I would pull out the color of the specs in your granite. Most tile store will let you order a few samples to take home and try!

Michael Lee, Inc Glass tile would look fantastic in this kitchen. a little wall color wouldn't hurt either.

rdv104 Thank you so much for the quick replies. I am really bad at making decisions... Hence no blacksplash or wall color and we have been in the house for almost two years!
I basically need someone to tell me what to do with specific color and style of backsplash.
I like the idea from Rustic Brick and Stone- thanks!!

I would really appreciate suggestions for wall color that would work in the adjacent breakfast nook and open family room.

PYRAMID DESIGN GROUP The stone mosaic shown by Rustic Brick and Stone is a good look and color. The color MUST CO-ORDINATE WITH THE GRANITE COUNTERS ,WHICH IT WOULD. however I would jazz it up a little by inserting 4" x 4" square stainless steel tiles (see the attached photo). Also I would bring the blacksplash to the bottom of the range hood. Then I would also paint the wall above the cabinets andat the side of the hood flue pipe either a darker version of the blacksplash color ie. a coffee color or maybe a sage or spruce green, depending on your color scheme in adjacent areas.

EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL HOME DESIGNS LLC Here are some options on a drawing i made for a builder. Going up with the tile gives the impression of hight. Perhaps not this color but more on the toupe side. The material you use depends on your personal taste ,rustic ,modern, contemporary.

CMR Interiors & Design Consultations Inc. Do a creamy subway brick from Ann Sacks. That would be simple and timeless.

nFORMAL design You could try a tile pattern like the one below to compliment the browns in your cabinets and counters. It's a simple, straight, clean look. I'd probably stop it right at the range hood as well and paint the remaining wall space above and on top of the cabinets.

sharpkl I would definitely go all the way up the wall with the backsplash. Here is another members remodel and same type hood.

coratan You could go all the way, if you wanted to do a pattern. If you want to keep clean lines I would do subway tiles it just a timeless look.

rdv104 Thank you everyone for suggestions.
@ Directbuy of FW - really like the look of Silver Maple. I wasn't able to find the Solistone Folia glass on Daltile website. Was trying to get an estimate. I am sure it will be expensive to do all of it in that tile, therefore was thinking to add it as a design under hood and maybe accent in the other areas under rest of cabinets with coordinating beige subway tile.

@ Everything Beautiful... Thank you for taking time to do drawings. I would love to do what seems to be Marble in the 5th drawing, but budget won't allow it. Any recommendation on getting same look with cheaper material that is easy to clean, especially behind stove.

EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL HOME DESIGNS LLC Thank you . You can get the same look and feel with a faux finish at a fraction of the price make sure they seal the finish so you can clean it.

Stacey Rushing I love neutral. I know everyone wants to throw up glass tiles, but I think kitchens need to be timeless. My suggestion would be this :)

onthefence rdv - if you should decide to to subways with an accent tile, here's a photo of an interesting way to use the accents. I like the mix of interspersed vertical and horizontal randomly placed tile. I think it's a little more interesting than the standard horizontal stripe of accent tile.

rdv104 @onthefence. love it!! Thanks. This idea would jazz it up a little for sure. Want to do something timeless at the same time a little different ( is that possible?)

onthefence It's possible in my world rdv ;-) I totally agree about doing something just a little unique but something that still stands out from the crowd a bit.

Obiviously the colors above wouldn't be what you'd use. But I could really see a subdued subway tile with some random pops of accents.
