What is the average size of a master bedroom/bathroom?
I have just recently started construction of our new home 3500sq ft. I'm worried the master bathroom isn't in proportion to the master bedroom. The master bedroom is 230sq ft, closet is 112sq ft and the bathroom is 78sq ft. I was hoping to have a large double shower and double sinks, does this sound too small? Any suggestions/help much appreciated!

Dytecture The bedroom size sounds about right. If possible try to increase the size of the bathroom to at least 100 sqft if it means making the closet smaller.

LeMaster Architects Your closet seems too large... almost the size of a small bedroom. I love a good sized closet, but not at the expense of the bathroom size. Do you have a drawing of the whole suite layout? You may be able to take some space from the bedroom as well.

cunga22 I have attached a picture of the drawing and layout of the rooms. Furniture placement is only a guide

LeMaster Architects My first thought would be to carve out a space in the closet for the tub (see attached). You can't shift the whole wall down without affecting the windows.

wildfan Just for comparison, since our house is about the same size as yours. Our bedroom is 195 sq. ft. Our closet is 84 sq. ft. Our bathroom is 150 sq. ft.

Curb Appeal Renovations you must not be in Texas...your toilet isn't in a "closet"! I agree with what everyone says. your bathroom is way too small for what you're doing. And, by the looks of your closet, are you sure you have room for that island? I'm assuming it's an island.

Carolyn Garvie I would swap the bath and the closet. You are wasting space with the hallway you now have.

Judy M I don't understand seeing the toilet opposite the door. I would want 2 sinks in a master bath and the shower and tub look too tight.
